When Mark Twain saw the majestic lion carved into a rock in Luzern, he was moved to declare it the saddest and most moving piece of stone in the world. Had he then gone on to Aix-en-Provence and inspected this happy fellow, what would he have said?

oh but that is a lovely lion!

The one at Luzrn is lovely isn't it? And so sad.

You know, I couldn't quite figure out if the eyes of this lion looking up and to the side were intentional or a result of corrosion. What do you think? (And does the Luzern lion remind you of Aslan?)

oh the Luzern lion TOTALLY reminds me of Aslan!!!!
this one just has weird eyes...
