Michel Tournier went to Japan. In his book Lieux Dits, he describes his experience of drinking saké.
That evening, some friends were waiting for me at a bar. What else is there to drink but Saké? I'm drinking Japanese alcohol for the first time. "Watch out," I am warned, "It is very strong." I take a sip, and at once feel myself shaken violently. "You were right, it is very strong!" I say. "No, no!" say my friends. "That is because there was a temblor exactly when you swallowed!"
